Zebra Jungle Carpet Pythons (Morelia spilotes cheynei)
Zebra jungle carpet python
    With a crazy busy pinstripe pattern and nice jungle carpet python yellow and black bold contrast, the Zebra is a eye-popping pattern morph of the jungle carpet python.  The zebra mutation is passed on in a "co-dominant" manner, so breeding a zebra to a normal jungle results in approximately half zebra jungle carpets and half normal jungle carpet pythons.  The Super Zebra or homozygous zebra is a patternless yellow jungle carpet python.  We aquired two of the first zebras in the United States, which were 2007 animals imported in 2008. The male, Grevy (as suggested by our friend Jeremy), after a type of zebra (the equine kind), went on to sire several offspring in 2009. We then kept kept several of the offspring, including the nicest male who was named Grant. Grant, and several of his siblings, went on to develop amazing yellow coloration far surpassing that of the original zebra, Grevy.  In 2011, Grant sired several clutches, including the production of a nice male, which has developed breathtaking yellow coloration with the typical fine pattern of this morph.

With 2 generations of zebras produced by 2011, we have the most selectively bred group of zebras in the US. What this means is zebras purchased from AAR will have the best chance of gaining the perfect yellows seen in our breeders and we will have the widest selection of pattern and appearance. This selective breeding will only continue, and we have a large collection of spectacular zebras, which should result in the production of spectacular super zebras in the near future.
