Finally
got
out backpacking again. We visited Hovenweep in
southeastern
Utah. It wasn't really a herping trip, but I did get
to see some
awesome herps. The ruins were amazing!

Hovenweep
castle. This is a magnificent structure.

This is
the
nicest collard lizard I have seen in the wild. He let
me get real
close for pictures.

I easily
caught this guy just to see if I could. He wasn't too
happy. Watch those teeth!

Fence
lizards were plentiful. This one caught a mouthfull.

A gopher
snake was one of two snakes we saw. The other was a
whipsnake
which was too fast for me.
