Patternless
Spotted
Pythons (Antaresia maculosa)
There are several different pattern
or locality types of the spotted python, including the beautiful Cape
York spotted python, also called the blonde Mac. There are also a
few genetic mutations of the spotted python as well, including albinos
(which are only in Australia), granites, and patternless. The
patternless mutation is an extreme form of the granite morph, where the
small pattern elements are lacking and the animals are a uniform dark
chocolate or charcoal color. We were fortunate to acquire 1.3
patternless spotteds, including the original male from VPI. Below
are pictures of the patternless spotteds. It would be cool to mix
this gene in with the albino gene, which would likely yeild a white
spotted python with red eyes. Another great Antaresia at
Australian Addiction Reptiles.
