Tiger Coastal Carpet Pythons (Morelia spilotes mcdoweli)
In addition to jaguar
carpets, tigers are another morph of coastal carpet pythons.
These attractively patterned snakes have bold dorsal stripes, and the
pattern on the sides may also be striped or broken striped the length
of the animal. Tri-striped coastal carpets are another available
morph, but differ from the tigers in regard to pattern elements.
The pattern of genetic inheritance is still in question with
tigers. Many believe this to be a dominant trait, passed on
visably by breeding a tiger to a normal. Others believe this to
be a recessive trait, and one must breed two tigers to get tiger
offspring, with hets appearing normal or somewhat like tigers. To
complicate matters, there may be different tiger lineages. These
questions should be worked out in the next few years. Tigers have
been bred to jaguars, producing a very clean striped jaguar, and this
morph will be important for making some great looking carpets. We
should start producing tigers in the 2007-2008 season. GET

Here
is our female tiger coastal posing very nicely for a photo.
She has great light tan colors and should make some killer tiger jags
in the future.
|
Male
Tiger coastal outside for a little photo shoot. He is turning out
really nice and is developing some sweet yellow background colors.

This
is the
male
Tiger Coastal. He's a bit more fiesty than the female, with a
great appetite. He should grow quickly and make a great
breeder.

This
is our
female tiger Coastal Carpet python. She is very calm and a little
shy, but is doing well. We are excited to raise her
up and breed her to napoleon for some tiger jags!
